Governor Alex Otti has received a renewed boost to his political standing as a prominent grassroots support group formally endorsed him for re-election, framing the move as a mandate to sustain ongoing reforms and development strides in Abia State.
The endorsement came during a statewide general meeting of the Alex Otti Vanguard Movement for Continuity, held at the main auditorium of Adventist Secondary Technical College, Owerrinta.
The gathering also featured the official launch of a new book titled “Threats to Societal Values and Advancement: The Way Forward,” authored by Dr. Fynboy Joseph.
Speaking at the event, Governor Otti, represented by the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, expressed appreciation to the movement, led by Dr. Kingsley Nwaigburu and Chief Uche Nwogwugwu, for what he described as “massive solidarity and unwavering support.”
He also commended the author, noting that the publication “adds value to intellectual discourse on societal development,” while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to initiatives that promote knowledge, civic responsibility, and the overall progress of the state.
In separate goodwill messages, the lawmaker representing Isiala Ngwa South, Rowland Chinwendu; the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ABSAA, Victoria Onwubiko; and the Vice Chancellor of Clifford University, Owerrinta, Prof. Chimezie Omeonu, among others, emphasized the importance of continuity in governance.
They highlighted the role of collective civic engagement in sustaining development, while also lauding the author for his scholarly contribution.
Earlier in his welcome address, Dr. Nwaigburu, who also serves as General Manager of the Abia State Debt Management Office, underscored the group’s mission to consolidate ongoing reforms and ensure sustained progress through continued support for the incumbent administration.
In an interview, Dr. Joseph, an Associate Dean at Clifford University and Secretary of the movement, explained that his book was inspired by “growing concerns over declining societal values and the urgent need for strategic solutions.”
He expressed gratitude to colleagues, supporters, and institutions that contributed to the successful publication and launch.
The event also featured the formal inauguration of leadership structures and chapters of the movement across the state, alongside the dedication, unveiling, and public presentation of the book, drawing the attendance of several notable dignitaries.
