There are strong indications that efforts by the Mayor of Umunneochi Local Government Area, Chief Sunny Afurobi, and other stakeholders to restore and ensure steady electricity supply across various communities are beginning to yield positive results.

This development follows persistent appeals from residents during the last stakeholders’ meeting held at the Local Government Headquarters, Nkwoagu, where citizens called for the restoration and regular supply of electricity to different parts of the area.

In a follow-up communication from the Mayor’s office, citizens of Umunneochi have been urged to monitor and report the true condition of electricity supply in their respective towns.

Residents are encouraged to record when power is restored and how long it lasts, as the data will enable the Mayor to engage more effectively with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) management for improved service delivery.

The Mayor’s office emphasized that timely submission of these reports to the Local Government Authority would facilitate executive action aimed at achieving sustainable electricity supply across the LGA.

Furthermore, Chief Afurobi reminded town unions and autonomous communities that have not yet complied with the earlier directive to forward details of electric poles installed without cables to do so through their Presidents General.

According to him, such information is crucial for proper planning and completion of the ongoing power restoration projects.

Chief Afurobi appreciated the continued support and cooperation of the people of Umunneochi, assuring them that the council remains committed to ensuring every community enjoys reliable electricity supply in the shortest possible time.
