-Committee Is Chaired By Rt. Hon. Obi Anyaoha
Hon. Mathias Umeh (Nwachi), the member representing Umunneochi State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, has fulfilled his campaign promise by establishing a committee tasked with ensuring that the development funds for the constituency are used effectively.
Daily Newslead understands that the 17-man Constituency Project Committee has its membership drawn from all four zones and 12 wards in Umunneochi.
The Constituency Project Committee is headed by Rt. Hon. Obi Anyaoha (Akwaja), Pstr. Kingsley Mezie (Vice), Joel Kelechukwu (Secretary), Engr. Obiora Nduka (Project Manager), and Dr. Nzeakor O. Nzeakor (Media Head).
Our correspondent reports that the first phase of the Committee’s project implementation includes the rehabilitation of the dilapidated school buildings in Nneato Secondary School and Mbala Secondary School, Isuochi.
Recall that Hon. Matthias Umeh had told Daily Newslead in 2022 that his motivation to join the race for the legislative seat was in fulfillment of his mission for humanity, having had this inborn desire to serve his people.
He had said then that since the return of democracy in Nigeria, Umunneochi State Constituency has grossly been under-represented especially against the backdrop of the fact that the yardstick for measuring the level of representation is the quantum of development attracted by the representative for his constituency.
According to him, “Since the advent of democracy in Nigeria in 1999, there is practically nothing to show that Umunneochi is part of Abia State save the Leru-Lomara-Nneato road. And we have had three young and intelligent men as our representatives in the assembly. It is a big No in the sense that those gentlemen might have been trying their best for the “curse” called the PDP government in Abia since 1999.”
