The joy was palpable across wards and communities of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency yesterday, the 31st of March, 2026, when news filtered in of the resignation of Hon. Barr. Dr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha from her appointment as Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
To her numerous fans and political supporters, the development came as a prayer answered—one that signals the possible restoration of the objective principles institutionalised through her pragmatic representation in the National Assembly. These principles, many believe, drove the rapid growth and development of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, a momentum that could not be sustained during her brief absence from the House of Representatives.
These objectives include, though not exhaustively:
- Experienced political representation of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
- Continued infrastructural development of the Federal Constituency.
- Steady inflow of federal jobs and employment opportunities to address the high rate of graduate unemployment in the constituency.
- Lifeline empowerment for deserving members of the constituency.
- Effective harnessing of her name recognition and status within Nigeria’s body polity for the upliftment of her constituents.
These form part of the reasons why the good people of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency—including Ndi-Eze, members of the clergy, students, town union leaders, youth organisations, and women groups—prayed and urged Adaejiagamba to relinquish her ministerial appointment and return to the Green Chambers of the National Assembly.
For members of the opposition and their leaders, who had hitherto maintained bold and undaunted posturing regarding the rumoured return of the Amazon in 2027, often dismissing her political strength and depth of goodwill, the events of March 31, 2026, will remain indelible. The sudden shift reportedly sent cold shivers through their ranks, unsettling long-held assumptions and triggering hurried political recalibrations.
Across cultures in the animal kingdom, the lion is revered as the king of the jungle. In a similar vein, Hon. Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, PhD, OON, Adaejiagamba Isuikwuato/Umunneochi, has answered what many describe as a clarion call for the political bailout of her constituency, which is presently perceived to be grappling with poor articulation of leadership ideas and political ineptitude.
She brings to the table a wealth of cognitive experience, what her supporters describe as massive and irrevocable grassroots support, and the goodwill of the downtrodden, whom she has consistently supported through years of personal and political engagement.
Now, more than ever, is the time, as argued by her proponents, for the people to rise above primordial considerations and rally behind a journey aimed at the total emancipation of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, from infrastructural deficits to a repositioning of its people for improved socio-economic and political standing.
Adaejiagamba, as a mother figure, is widely regarded as accommodating and compassionate. She is said to operate a non-regimented reward system, where loyalty and genuine political partnership are recognised and rewarded.
Above all, the Amazon, cast as an indomitable lioness, is seen as ready and capable of defending her people’s mandate.
This, indeed, is the journey that will make history.
To be continued.
