The Mayor of Umunneochi Local Government Area, Chief Sunny Afuruobi, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and due process, in alignment with the governance ideals of Governor Alex Otti.
Chief Afuruobi made this known at the Council Headquarters, Nkwoagu Isuochi, while receiving the leadership of the Labour Party in Abia State, led by the State Chairman, Sir Emmanuel Oti.
Speaking during the visit, the Mayor assured that he would continue to serve the people with the fear of God, noting that Governor Otti has transformed the leadership dynamics of the state.
He emphasised that his administration remains dedicated to complementing the Governor’s transformational agenda, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment, agriculture, health, security, and innovation technology.
Chief Afuruobi described the visit of the Labour Party leadership as a source of motivation to deepen the impact of the Governor’s good works at the grassroots level.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of the Labour Party, Sir Emmanuel Oti, said the visit was aimed at assessing the achievements of the Mayors and their cabinets over the past year.
He commended Chief Afuruobi for his numerous developmental strides and people-oriented policies and programmes designed to uplift the living standards of Umunneochi residents.
Also speaking, the Member representing Umunneochi State Constituency, Hon. Mathias Umeh; Member, Abia State House of Assembly Service Commission, Lady Grace Ibe; and Deputy Coordinator, Umunneochi Abia Arise, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his unprecedented achievements in the council.
They pledged continued support for Governor Otti’s administration and future political ambitions.
The event also featured the formal reception of decampees from the APC and PDP into the ruling Labour Party, further strengthening the party’s base in the area.
Dignitaries present included the Special Assistant to the Governor on Due Process and Public Procurement, Dr. Oluebube Chukwu, among other notable personalities.
