—-Salutes Isuochi Indigenes Resident In The U.S. For Embarking On The Initiative
The Mayor of Umunneochi Local Government Area, Chief Sunny Afurobi, has commended the courage, vision and philanthropy of Isuochi indigenes in the United States of America for establishing a multimillion-naira, state-of-the-art medical facility in Nkwoagu, Isuochi, describing the initiative as the first of its kind in the history of the community.
Chief Afurobi gave the commendation during the commissioning of the Physical Therapy Unit of the Isuochi Progressive Union (IPU), USA Medical Centre, Nkwoagu, Amuda Isuochi.
The unit was recently equipped by Isuochi indigenes based in the United States as part of their sustained commitment to improving healthcare delivery in their homeland.
The mayor praised the donors for their empathy and dedication to the health and wellbeing of the people, noting that the hospital had been thoughtfully built, well-equipped and fully digitalised to enhance service delivery.
He highlighted the group’s commitment to affordable and free healthcare for the people of Isuochi and the wider Umunneochi area, describing it as “topnotch.”
According to him, the medical equipment installed in the facility are highly sophisticated and costly, adding that what is obtainable at the hospital compares favourably with standards seen in government-owned hospitals.
Chief Afurobi urged residents of Isuochi and the general public to take full advantage of the facility by regularly checking their health, describing the hospital as a rare opportunity for accessible quality healthcare.
He also prayed for God’s continued blessings on the Isuochi indigenes in the USA, asking that they be strengthened to continue their humanitarian efforts.
The Umunneochi council boss also commended the Medical Director, Dr Amobi Uwaezuoke, and other health workers for their dedication and voluntary services, which he said have kept the hospital functional and impactful, and encouraged them to remain steadfast, assuring them that their sacrifices would receive divine reward.
In a brief health enlightenment session, Chief Afurobi advised the people to prioritise natural foods over artificial ones, which he said are inimical to good health, and urged them to engage in regular light exercises to promote longevity.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Medical Director, Dr Amobi Uwaezuoke, expressed gratitude to the mayor and his entourage for honouring the invitation to the commissioning ceremony.
He explained that the mission of the medical centre is “to strengthen the health of the community through affordable, patient-centred healthcare delivery with compassion, ethical standards, and Christian values.”
He added that the vision of the centre is to improve the quality of life of the people of Isuochi and neighbouring communities through accessible and quality health services.
Dr Uwaezuoke listed the services provided by the medical centre to include the Physical Therapy Unit, General Health Services, X-ray services, laboratory services, eye care services, ultrasound services and pharmacy services.
He noted that the hospital’s operations are fully computerised and appealed to sponsors to support the donation of additional facilities that would enable the centre to commence surgical operations, thereby ensuring comprehensive healthcare delivery.
Highlights of the event included the formal commissioning of the Physical Therapy Unit by Chief Sunny Afurobi, special songs of praise to entertain guests, special prayers for IPU members and other stakeholders offered by Eze Achara, and a guided tour of the hospital facilities.
Speaking at the commissioning, Chief Afurobi described the occasion as a significant milestone in the hospital’s journey.
“Today marks a meaningful milestone in the life of this hospital. The commissioning of this new service installation strengthens our ability to serve those who need care the most.
“This hospital stands as a symbol of compassion and commitment, run on a charitable basis and sustained by the generosity of our indigenous brothers and sisters living abroad, whose support makes free medical treatment a reality for countless patients.
“On behalf of the hospital, the community, and every life touched within these walls, we extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors and well-wishers overseas.
“Your dedication, sacrifice, and continued belief in this mission have transformed hope into healing. You may be far in distance, but your presence is felt every day through the care delivered here.
“With sincere appreciation and pride, we now commission this new service installation. May it enhance our capacity, improve patient outcomes, and stand as a lasting testament to shared humanity and selfless service.
“Thank you, and may this hospital continue to be a place of healing, dignity, and hope for all,” Chief Afurobi said.
