The Mbala – Umuaku – Ngodo Road in the Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State is among the nine key roads across the three senatorial zones of Abia State listed for reconstruction in the government’s renewed effort to enhance infrastructure and improve connectivity.
Prince Okey Kanu, Abia State Commissioner for Information disclosed this during a press briefing following the weekly State Executive Council (SEC) meeting presided over by His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti.
According to Prince Kanu, the other strategic road projects include Onuimo – Abia Tower of Peace, Umuahia (5.5 km); Onuinyang (Bende) – Okporoenyi – Oboro Ikwuano Road, Section One (7.15 km); and Okporoenyi – Oboro – Ikwuano, Section Two.
Others are Ntigha – Nbawsi – Umuala Road (Isialangwa North) (11.5 km); Obehe – Umudiabia – Owaza Road (Ukwa West) (11.27 km); Umuogo – Nsukwe – Ubakala Ring Road (Umuahia South) (2.21 km); Ohanze Ntighauzo – Obete – Akirika Oburu Road (Obingwa and Ukwa East) (12.6 km); and Umuopara Ring Road (Umuahia South) (6.9 km).
The commisioner emphasized the administration’s commitment to delivering quality road infrastructure, noting that two additional roads have been fully completed through maintenance efforts, bringing the total number of roads rehabilitated to 127 since Governor Otti took office.
He further revealed that dualization work has commenced on the Owerrinta – Umuekea Road, signaling the administration’s focus on easing traffic flow and enhancing economic activities in the area.
“This administration is determined to open up new economic corridors and ensure smooth mobility across all regions of Abia,” Kanu stated, assuring citizens that the government will continue its infrastructural drive to improve the state’s overall development.
The commissioner said that the announcement reinforces Governor Otti’s commitment to infrastructure renewal as part of his broader agenda to transform Abia into a hub of socio-economic progress.
