The Constituency Project Committee established by Hon. Matthias Umeh, member representing Umunneochi Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly has continued to receive commendations from Umunneochi citizens across party lines.
The latest commendation came from some chieftains of the Labour Party (LP) in Umunneochi Local Government Area who likened Hon. Matthias Umeh to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for having “enlarged the shoe size of governance” in the state.
The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Dr. Obiora Ifoh, an indigene of Umunneochi, described the establishment of the committee by Hon. Umeh as unprecedented in the political annals of the area, saying it was the first time a serving legislator would constitute a committee to identify, execute and monitor constituency projects.
“I just want to appreciate you, the honourable member representing the good people of Umunneochi in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Matthias Umeh for the good work you are doing and also for the inauguration of the Constituency Project Committee. You have done noble, welldone,” he said.
A member of the Umunneochi Development Plan (UDP) Committee, Dr. Nzeako O. Nzeako while applauding the lawmaker for this rare initiative, prayed that Hon. Umeh could in conjunction with other stakeholders in the local government, convert the UDP recommendations into bills and laws.
“I equally pray and wish that our honourable member in conjunction with other stakeholders could convert our recommendations in the Umunneochi Development Plan (especially in the area of agriculture) into bills and laws amidst the socioeconomic quagmire we have found ourselves as a nation,” Nzeako said.
Chief Macson Chukwujioke (Ugogbaola) on his part, poured encomiums on Hon. Matthias Umeh for keeping to his campaign promise of running a transparent legislative representation, describing the lawmaker’s inauguration of a Constituency Project Committee as novel in Umunneochi.
I am highly elated that Hon. Umeh (Nwachi) decided to take this route. This is something we have never seen in Umunneochi before now. It is a measure of the integrity of the lawmaker, and his commitment to setting a new standard in legislative representation. How else do you measure transparency, openness, and patriotism other than what this young man has done? We have never seen it this good in Umunneochi,” Chief Chukwujioke said.
Recall that Hon. Mathias Umeh (Nwachi), the member representing Umunneochi State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, recently established a committee tasked with ensuring that the development funds for the constituency are used effectively.
The Constituency Project Committee is headed by Rt. Hon. Obi Anyaoha (Akwaja), Pstr. Kingsley Mezie (Vice), Joel Kelechukwu (Secretary), Engr. Obiora Nduka (Project Manager), and Dr. Nzeakor O. Nzeakor (Media Head).
